Athens: all ways to get from the airport to the city center

Athens International Airport is the largest and most popular airport in Greece, serving about 20 million passengers a year. The air harbor was officially opened in 2001 in preparation for the 2004 Summer Olympics, replacing the older Athens Elinikon Airport.

Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (international code: ATH) was named after the Greek politician and diplomat Eleftherios Ven izelos for his contribution to the development of the country’s civil aviation. There is his museum in the terminal building, which can be visited free of charge. There is also an archaeological museum on the airport grounds, which contains exhibits discovered during the construction of the airport.

This is one of the most modern and technologically advanced airports in the world. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire territory, and there are many stores, cafes and comfortable lounges.

Athens Airport has two terminals, the main terminal and the secondary terminal, which is mainly used by low-cost carriers. The Arrivals area is located on the first floor and the Departures area on the first floor.

Two Greek airlines are assigned to the airport: Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air. Aeroflot and Russia also fly here.

The airport is located 17 km from the center of Athens and can be reached quickly and conveniently.
