Linate Airport. How to get to Milan and Malpensa Airport

Milan Linate Airport returned to operation on October 27, 2019 after renovation. It receives domestic and short international flights and is home to the low-cost carrier EasyJet.

Enrico Forlanini Linate Airport (Aeroporto di Milano-Linate, LIN) is Milan’s third airport. It is located in a remote suburb, 8 km from the city center. Linate is connected to Malpensa Airport by an expressway and there is a regular bus service between them.

Bus Malpensa — Linate

The Malpensa Shuttle runs between the two Milan airports.

  • The shuttle makes stops: Milano Rogoredo, Cormano, Cascina Gobba.
  • Departures are at 8:30, 11:15, 13:40, 16:30, 18:45.
  • The trip lasts 70—90 min.
  • Tickets are 13 €.

ATM, AirBus, Starfly, and Air Pullman buses run from the airport to Milan Central Station (Stazione Centrale) and Milano Fiera Rho station.

ATM city buses, route 73

The city bus stop is near the arrival terminal. The final stop in Milan is the Duomo. Tickets are sold at the arrival terminal, at newsagents and at the ATM app.

  • Buses run from 5:30am to 01:06am and depart every 10 minutes.
  • Travel time is 60 minutes.
  • Tickets are €2.50.

Linate Shuttle (AirBus, Air Pullman)

Shuttles are parked outside the arrivals terminal near gate 6. You can buy tickets online or on the bus, the price is the same.

  • Buses run from 6:30 to 23:30, departing every 30 minutes.
  • The trip takes 25 min.
  • Tickets are 5 €.

Airport bus express (Starfly)

Starfly shuttle tickets can be purchased online, at the arrival terminal ticket office and from the driver.

  • The first trip is at 7:45. There are buses every 30 minutes until 19:45, then at 20:15, 21:15, 21:55 and 22:45.
  • It’s 25 minutes away.
  • The cost is €5.

By train

There are no direct trains from Linate Airport to the center of Milan. Trains to the city run from Milano Forlanini station. It can be reached by public bus 73, which leaves from the airport.

  • Total travel time is about 30 minutes: 10 minutes by bus from the airport to the train station and 20 minutes by train.
  • Train tickets from 2 €.

Milan can be reached from Forlanini station by taking the following connecting trains:

  • Route S5 (Varese-Passante-Treviglio): runs from 6:18 to 22:18 every 30 min.
  • Route S6 (Novara-Passante-Treviglio): from 7:03 to 00:03, every 30 min.
  • Route S9 (Saronno-Seregno-Milano-Albairate): from 6:50 to 9:50 departure every half hour, from 9:50 to 11:50 — once an hour, from 11:50 to 19:50 — every half hour, last trains at 20:50 and 21:50.

From Linate to Milan by car

A car is the only way to get to/from Linate in case of a night flight: from 1:00 to 5:00 buses and trains do not run. And while you can order a cab or rent a car at any airport in Europe, Linate has an unusual option — carsharing.

Cab Milan — Linate

At the airport, cab stands are located in the arrivals terminal near gate 5. You can book a car yourself by calling the general number 02 7777 or directly from one of the carriers.

  • The trip will cost from 55 €.

When ordering a car through KiwiTaxi service, a driver with a nameplate will meet you at the arrival hall, the price already includes a wait of up to 1 hour. You can pay cash to the driver or by card when ordering online.
