Valencia Airport: how to get to and from the city by metro and bus

Valencia Airport (Aeropuerto de Valencia International Airport, VLC) is located 8 km from the city of Valencia, in the small town of Manises. You can get from the city to the airport and back by bus, metro or cab.

Valencia airport itself is small and not confusing. Navigation makes it easy to find exits to the subway, bus and cab stands. Many low-cost carriers fly here, and they will try to sell you a transfer in advance. This is not necessary: for example, a transfer on Ryanair’s website will take you on the same bus number 150, but will cost more.

Bus (airbus) from Valencia airport to the city center

The yellow bus route 150 will take you from the airport to the center for only 1.45 €. You can buy a ticket from the driver. The final stop in the center is near theold town, which may be closer to hotels in the historic districts than the metro. This is the cheapest way to get there, but the airbus doesn’t run on Sundays and holidays.

  • Fare: €1.45 for a single ride.
  • Frequency: every 26 minutes from Mon to Sat.
  • Travel time: 25—30 minutes when traveling without traffic jams.
  • Mode of operation: approximately from 05:30 to 23:30.
  • The stop diagram on the Fernanbus website can help you plan your trip.

By subway from the airport to the city

The Aeroport metro station is located right at Valencia Airport. It is connected to the center by two lines: the red Rafelbuñol line and the green Mariti Serreria line. You can buy a ticket at the terminal that stands at any major station, including the airport. The subway is convenient because you can get to almost any part of the city with 1—2 transfers.

The station in the heart of the city, at the train station, is Xativa (Xativa or Xativa in Valencian dialect). There is no subway in the old town. If your hotel is in the historic part of Valencia, look out for the Aerobus route.

  • Frequency: every 10 minutes.
  • Travel time: 20 minutes.
  • Opening hours: approximately from 05:30 to midnight. Always check the current schedule.
  • The fare depends on the area from which you plan to get to the airport. If you live in Valencia itself, a one-way trip will cost €3.9 and a round trip will cost €7.4. If you plan to live in the suburbs, the cost will change. As the stops are distributed by zones, you can clearly see on the metro scheme. More about public transportation in Valencia.
  • A refillable paper card for 1 € is added to the fare. This card can then be topped up and used when traveling on the metro in the city.
  • If you have a Valencia Tourist Card, travel is free.

When going from downtown to the airport, be careful with the green line: it splits into two directions in the city center, and you need a train that shows the Aeroport terminus.
