A week is enough to see the main iconic places of the island. Start with Palma, the capital of the island, and I will tell you about the rest of the interesting places below.
City of Soller
Soller is a small provincial town nestled in the Sierra de Tramontana mountains, separated from the rest of Majorca by them. The most interesting way to get from the island’s capital to Soller is to travel 27 kilometers by an ancient train from the early XX century, which is a sight in itself. During the hour-long journey, the train passes through a valley where oranges, lemons and olives are grown.
All of Sóller’s attractions are located in its center, in the Plaça Constitució (Constitution Square). In addition to various cafes and a fountain, you can see here:
- An unusual Art Nouveau bank (Banco de Sóller), designed by the famous Spanish architect Juan Rubio.
- The church of St. Bartholomew (Iglesia de Sant Bartomeu de Sóller), which began to be built in 1236, has been changed three times since then. The church now combines Gothic and modernism.
From the center of Sóller you can take the old streetcar to the port (Port de Sóller). From the port, take a boat trip along the island to Sa Calobra Bay or visit local restaurants overlooking the sea, ships and yachts.
Tickets for excursion ships can be purchased at the harbor ticket office or booked online.

Sóller’s trains and streetcars are owned by Ferrocarril de Sóller, check the carrier’s official website for timetables.

- A streetcar ticket is €7.

Village of Valldemossa (Valldemossa)
Mallorca’s most beautiful village, home to 2,000 people. Notable for its traditional medieval narrow streets and houses decorated with flower pots.
The most popular attraction in the village is the Cartuja de Valldemosa, a monastery of the Cartesian order founded in the 13th century. The complex includes a royal palace, a church, a pharmacy and several buildings that used to house cells. The monastery ceased to exist in 1835.
Now there are several museums on the territory of the complex. For example, cell No. 4 is the Chopin Museum, where the composer and writer Georges Sand lived in the winter of 1838—1839.
- Opening hours of the Monastery Complex: Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30. From November to January the complex is closed.

Dragon Caves (Cuevas del Drach)
The caves are one of Mallorca’s most visited attractions. They have been known since the Middle Ages, but were only explored at the end of the 19th century. A two kilometer long path among stalactites and stalagmites leads to the underground Martel Lake, the largest in Europe. A live classical music concert awaits visitors at the lake. The caves can only be explored in the presence of a guide and lasts one hour.
- Tours are offered 4 times a day in the winter and 7 times a day from March through November.
- Admission: adult — 16 €, children from 3 to 12 years old — 9 €, under 2 years old — free of charge. Buying tickets online saves time and 1 € per ticket.

Jardines de Alfabia (Alfabia Gardens)
Historic house surrounded by gardens in the northwest of Mallorca in the mountains of Ciera de Tramontana. The manor house is interesting for its 16th century interior furnishings and is famous for its gardens with tropical trees, sculptures, flower beds, ponds and fountains.
- Open March through October, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Sunday is a day off.
- Admission: 7,5 € under 10 years old — free of charge.

Galatzo Park Reserve (La Reserva Puig de Galatzo)
The reserve covers a mountainous area of more than 2.5 million square meters and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 3 km tourist route passes 30 waterfalls, many caves and bridges. The park hosts performances with birds of prey. At the end of the route, you can swim in pools of mountain water.
- Working hours: daily from 10:00 to 18:00.
- Admission: 18 €, children from 4 to 12 years old — 9 €, under 3 years old — free of charge.

Park Katmandu (Park Katmandu)
Kathmandu is the second most popular amusement park in Spain after PortAventura. Here you can visit ten attractions. The most interesting ones are the inverted house, a rock-climbing wall, water slides and trampolines, an unusual golf course, and a 5D movie theater.
- The mode of operation varies depending on the month and the type of attraction, it is better to check the information on the park’s website.
- Admission for one day, visiting each attraction once: adult — 27,5 €, children from 3 to 12 years old — 20 €.
- Unlimited admission to the attractions for 24 hours: adult — 32,5 €, children from 3 to 12 years old — 25 €.
Mallorca Water Parks (Parque acuático)
The island is home to two large water amusement parks, Western Water Park and Aqualand.
Each water park has 14 water rides for adults, a children’s water area, and indoor pools. Western Water Park has acrobats and bird shows several times a day. The water parks have the same operating hours and ticket prices:
- Mode of operation: May, June and September from 10:00 to 17:00, July and August from 10:00 to 18:00.
- Admission is 30 € for adults, 21 € for children from 5 to 10 years old, and 12 € for children from 3 to 4 years old.

Marineland amusement park
This park is a must visit with children. You can watch dolphin shows, sea lion shows and parrot shows several times a day. There is a small oceanarium, a zoo and a terrarium on the territory of the park.

- Ticket price: adults — 26 €, children from 1.1 to 1.4 m — 16 €, from 0.9 to 1.1 m — 11 €.

Beaches of Majorca
This is the main purpose of traveling to Mallorca. More than 200 beaches with white or golden sand are located all around the perimeter of the island. Each beach is interesting and unique, I will tell you about the most popular ones.
- Playa de Palma is one of the best urban beaches on the island. It is the longest city beach and has been awarded the «Blue Flag» for cleanliness and safety. The beach is characterized by good infrastructure and white sand. Entrance to the beach is free of charge.
- Playa Alcudia is a popular beach for family vacations. It is located on the northern coast and is often recognized as one of the best beaches in the world. Clear blue sea and golden sand, excellent infrastructure and «Blue Flag». Playa Alcudia is often chosen for vacations with children.
- Sa Calobra is one of Mallorca’s best wild beaches. It is a small picturesque sandy-pebble beach, which can only be accessed by sea or via a mountain serpentine. Due to the remoteness and inaccessibility of the beach there is no developed infrastructure.
